Selection Process

We have so many accomplished and inspirational women! Due to space limitations, we were forced to feature only a subset.

The 60 women on the Wall are selected by a committee of senior and junior faculty using rigorous and objective inclusion criteria in Feb. 2022. They are leaders with official titles as Deans, Chairs, Center Directors, Vice Chairs (one per department only), Division Chiefs, Associate Deans (who are Associate Professors or above) and professors with high honors (HHMI Investigators, National Academy of Science members, and Watson Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine). In addition, we also included junior rising stars who have been in rank for more than one year and who have active awards as Endowed Scholars in Medical Sciences, Disease-Oriented Clinical Scholars (DOCS), Dedman Family Scholars in Clinical Care, or Texas Health Resources Clinical Scholars. We plan to update the Wall as a living celebration by rotating featured women in subsequent years. We welcome your input via Email.

The 100 women featured on the Website responded to our solicitation for personal stories about their STEMM journeys. We received many responses, and are featuring the first 100, with plans to rotate with other stories in subsequent years.
