“You can do anything you set your mind to; however, you need to work hard to achieve success.”

Contributions to UT Southwestern

As Executive Vice President (EVP) for Business Affairs, Ms. Crawford is “responsible for 15 departments across the institution, including Accounting and Fiscal Service, Budget and Resource Planning, Facilities Management, Information Resources, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources, and the UT Southwestern Police Department,” she said. Her interest in an executive career was motivated by “my mother, a self-taught business owner. I worked alongside her from an early age. She taught me about finances, customer service, and integrity.”

Taking Risks

“Early on in my career I was told by a mentor to get as broad a range of experiences as possible.”

Ms. Crawford said of the foundation she built for herself in business: “As a finance professional, I sought to get my education (M.B.A.), professional certifications (CPA, CMA, CIA) and then external audit, internal audit, corporate finance, start-up company, not-for-profit, and international experience. This provided a solid base for my career and allowed me to move to my current position as EVP for Business Affairs.”

Ms. Crawford’s broad experience did not come without taking a few risks. “I moved to London early in my career to gain international experience and it was one of the best moves of my career,” she said.

The UT Southwestern Difference

Ms. Crawford values the opportunity to “first and foremost support the mission,” of UT Southwestern.

“Education, research, and patient care are all very important to me. I love building collaborative relationships and problem solving.”

She sees her participation in the Celebrating Breakthroughs Together Project as deeply meaningful: “It is terrific to be part of a project that supports young women!”

Outside of her administrative role, she enjoys “reading, gardening, traveling, and being with friends and family.”
