“Don’t let anyone dampen your enthusiasm.”

Contributions to STEMM

Dr. Florián-Rodriguez conducts a combination of clinical care and research at UT Southwestern as a physician-scientist. “I focus on pelvic floor disorders."

"I’m passionate about treating women with pelvic floor disorders like urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse because we have so many therapies that can dramatically improve their quality of life. These conditions are common – but it doesn’t mean women have to live with them.”

“My approach is to start with the most conservative treatment and then, if needed, we can work toward more advanced and surgical techniques.”

In addition to providing compassionate clinical care, Dr. Florián-Rodriguez does research to investigate pressing questions in the field of urogynecology. “My research interests include studying the relationship between the vaginal extracellular matrix, cellular senescence, and prolapse.”

The UT Southwestern Difference

“What I like most about my job is the diversity associated with being a physician-scientist,” Dr.  Florián-Rodriguez said of her career at UT Southwestern.

“I can be in the operating room and clinic one day and the next in the laboratory working on research projects. It is a very stimulating and fulfilling job.”

She sees her involvement in the Celebrating Breakthroughs Together Project as an honor and an opportunity. “Being part of this project means that all the sacrifices to get here have been worth it. It gives me the opportunity to share my story and inspire the next generation of women in STEMM.”
