Contributions to STEMM

As a geriatrician, Dr. Roche “feels very fortunate to be able to provide care for an exceptionally diverse group of patients who are resilient and gracious and range from robust nonagenarians to frail, vulnerable elderly,” she said. As a dedicated educator, “I spend most of my time teaching multiple levels of learners including medical students, residents, fellows, and team members how to take care of older adults, i.e., ‘the Greatest Generation.’ I work on equipping them with the essential clinical and collaborative skills to best care for these patients while instilling them with enthusiasm, respect, responsibility, and advocacy.”

The UT Southwestern Difference

Dr. Roche lists the best aspects of her job as, “teaching and learning from others and working as a team.” Looking to the next generation of women in medicine, she “encourages younger individuals to find the best teaching environment, one that nurtures and inspires you."

"Work really hard and be your patients’ best advocate.”

Work-Life Balance

Outside of UT Southwestern, Dr. Roche “loves to read, exercise, cook, go to church, and travel,” alongside her family.
